Wash the leaf and keep aside. Slice the onion thinly and keep aside.

Heat oil in kadai add mustard, cumin, channa dal and urad dal. Once both dals roasted add broken red chilli and curry leaves.

Now add sliced onion and saute until onion turns brown. Now add hing and turmeric.

Add ponnankanni leaf and salt. Close with lid and cook in medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Don't add water.

When you are ready to switch off the flame add grated coconut and mix. Serve hot with sambar rice..
