Ingredients

40 mins
4 servings
  • 1 cupbesan/chickpea flour
  • 1/4 cupfine semolina/rawa
  • 1 cupfresh or frozen green peas
  • 1/2 cuppar boiled palak
  • 1 tbspginger green chilli paste
  • 1/2 cupyogurt/dahi
  • Water as per necessary
  • 1 1/2 tspfruit salt/eno
  • 2 tspoil for greasing
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 tbspcoriander leaves
  • For tempering:- 4 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  • 10-15curry leaves
  • 2-3slit green chillies
  • 1 tspsesame seeds
  • as neededFor garnishing- coriander leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    Firstly puree the green peas, parboiled palak, coriander with a little water.

  2. 2

    Mix together the besan, rawa, pea puree, salt, ginger, chilli paste, yogurt and salt into a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Prepare the steamer and preheated them.

  4. 4

    Now add the fruit salt or eno to the batter. Pour the remaining water over it and mix well.

  5. 5

    It should start getting frothy. Grease a shallow vessel that fits inside the steamer and add the batter on it.

  6. 6

    Place the vessel in the steamer and steam on medium flame for 12-15 minutes.

  7. 7

    Insert a knife in the middle and if it is comes clean it is done.

  8. 8

    Turn off the flame and allow it to rest for around 2-4 mins. Then remove slowly and cut into desired shape.

  9. 9

    For tempering:- heat the oil in a pan add the mustard seeds. Once they splutter add sesame seeds, curry leaves and chilli and saute for 20 seconds.

  10. 10

    Pour over this tempering on the dhoklas. Garnish with fresh coconut, coriander leaves.
