Vegetable Shortening Buttercream Cake

VEGETABLE SHORTENING BUTTERCREAM
Here's the cake I just made. Today, I tried using vegetable shortening to see how the buttercream turns out.
- Here's the review
I followed the usual buttercream recipe. The shortening whipped up nicely but didn't reach 100% success and beauty because vegetable shortening is very light and smooth, making it easy for shapes or flowers to collapse and stick together. Therefore, when decorating, you can only use vegetable shortening to create flat flowers like the ones I made today. After taking the flowers out of the fridge, quickly use a knife tip to attach them to the cake because they soften again in just 5 seconds.
Coloring: Coloring vegetable shortening is very difficult. You have to mix quickly and vigorously for the color to blend evenly.
Taste: Light, not too sweet, and melts quickly in the mouth.
The process of whipping the shortening is the same as with animal butter, and the recipe remains the same.

Steps
- 1
Take the shortening out of the fridge and press it to see if it's soft enough to leave an indentation. Use a mixer to beat the shortening until fluffy, gradually adding powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and turns off-white (use high speed).
- 2
Reduce the mixer speed and slowly pour in the milk, a little at a time, while beating. Continue until the shortening is smooth and holds its shape. You may not use all the milk. After whipping, the buttercream will be twice as fluffy as it was initially.
- 3
Then add color to the buttercream. Since this is shortening-based, the color won't be as vibrant as with whipping or topping cream, but it will have a cute pastel hue.
