Place the flour, salt, baking powder and oil together in a bowl. Mix well and knead it to a pliable dough by adding water as needed. Cover and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When they splutter add chopped onion and green chilli. Saute till onion gets softened. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and saute for a while or till the spices are done.

Next add mashed potato and broken fish pieces. Mix them well with the spices and cook for a minute or two. Add chopped coriander leaves, mix well and turn off the flame. Transfer the filling to a plate and let it cool down.

Take dough and divide into equal balls. Roll out a ball to a chapati with oval shape. Take a spoonful of fish filling and place it on the center of the chapati in a row/ line. Make 7-8 slits (as shown in pic) starting from both sides of the row/line towards the edge end of the chapati with the help of a sharp knife. Now carefully crossfold the petals/cut parts (as shown in pic) over the filling and press down to seal.

Repeat the process to make similar patties with rest of the dough balls and fish filling.

Heat enough oil in a pan. Deep fry the prepared fish patties untill golden brown over a medium heat. Place the fried patties on paper towels to drain the excess oil.

Serve hot with tomato ketchup or chilli sauce.
