Soak both dals overnight in the morning wash the dal again in fresh water and add them in a blender along with asafoetida and grind to make a thick coarse paste.

Do not excess water as we need the batter to be thick enough to get into the steamer collect the batter in a bowl and keep aside.

Stir the mixture nicely and then add ginger grated, chopped coriander leaves, green chilli,cumin seeds and salt to taste and then add baking soda and mix it nicely and let it rest for 5 minutes

Now heat water in steamer meanwhile grease your idli plates and keep aside the batter will start rising scoop a spoon of batter and place on the greased idli plates.

Put the idli plates in the steamer cook for 10 minutes

Open the steamer and let take out the idli stand.now carefully scoop out the vadas and soak them in hot water for 5 mins

When the vadas are ready take them out in a short glasses pour curd mixed with sugar add green chutney, sweet chutney and sprinkle jeera powder,red chilli powder and fresh chopped coriander leaves along with some pomegranate seeds and sev
