Ingredients

  • 2 Cupsovernight soaked Chana daal/cholar daal
  • 1potato optional, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoonginger paste
  • 2 piecesgreen chillies
  • 1 tablespooncumin powder/paste
  • 1 tablespoonhaldi powder
  • 1 teaspooncumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoonkashmir lal mirch / red chilli powder
  • 8 pieceskaju / cashew nuts
  • 10 pieceskismis / raisin
  • To tasteSalt & sugar according
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1daruchini stick
  • 3green elaichi / cardamom
  • 2cloves
  • As requiredCoconut shredded or cube pieces optional
  • 1 teaspoongaram masala powder
  • As requiredRefine oil for cooking
  • As requiredWater for cooking

  1. 1

    In a pressure cooker pour soaked dal with one green chilli & boil it till 3 whistles. After that drain water & keep aside.

    In a kadai heat oil to fry kaju & kismis. Take it out & keep in a bowl aside. Now in the same oil add whole garam masala with bay leaf.

    Add cumin seeds in the oil then add boiled daal & saute it for few minutes. (Those who want to add potato & coconut now add them & fry little don't make golden brown).

  4. 4

    Add salt, sugar, ginger paste, Kashmiri Lal mirch powder, green chilli, cumin powder & mix it well.

  5. 5

    Add adequate amount of water & let it boil add fried kaju & kismis, when gravy becomes thick add garam masala powder.

  6. 6

    Serve it puri, roti & paratha. I have served it with roti.
