Roasted Onions

Roasted onions are one of the most classic side dishes to serve with stuffed turkey for Thanksgiving. This recipe is very simple—just choose some nice, small yellow onions. The secret is to mellow their strong flavor with a splash of good balsamic vinegar; roasting them in the oven makes them caramelized with an amazing sweet taste.

Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). While the oven heats, peel the onions, make star-shaped cuts on top, and arrange them in a deep baking dish. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 2
Drizzle with olive oil and roast for 40 to 50 minutes, until golden brown. The time will depend on the size of the onions. Turn them at least once during roasting. Check the seasoning, see if they are tender, open them slightly, and add the balsamic vinegar. Remove from the oven and serve on a platter with the pan juices as a side dish for turkey. Delicious!
