Calas are traditional African and American breakfast fritters. These are cooked rice fritters mixed with flour,egg,sugar and some spices. I made these eggless rice calas in saffron flavour.

Calas are traditional African and American breakfast fritters. These are cooked rice fritters mixed with flour,egg,sugar and some spices. I made these eggless rice calas in saffron flavour.
Steps

Prepare the batter by mixing flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, saffron, cardamom powder and required amount of milk together in a bowl. The batter must be neither so thick nor so thin.

Add cooked rice in it and mix it well.

Heat oil in a pan or Kadai and then drop the rice mixture in it for making the fritters.

Cook till the fritters are golden in colour.

Now your saffron rice cakes are ready.

Sprinkle some sugar powder over them and serve hot.
