Rinse Urad dal & soaked for 3-4 hours.

Drain the water and add urad dal in to a grinder jar along with one tea spoon cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger & green chilly and two table spoon water.

Grind all the ingredients to a smooth fluffy batter.

Take the batter in a bowl & add salt. Stir the batter briskly for 10 min. IT makes the batter more light & fluffy.

Heat the oil in a kadai.

When the oil becomes medium hot add spoonful batter in it according to the capacity of kadai

Fry the vadas till they become golden & crisp.

Remove vadas from oil & place them on a kitchen paper towel.

Take water in a bowl & add vadas in it. Soak them for 15-20 min.

Take each vada and press between your palms to remove excess water.

Take curd in a bowl & beat it till smooth.

Add sugar powder, black salt, cumin powder in it and mix properly.

Now gently place these vadas in curd.

Put vadas in a serving bowl.

Add more curd if required. Top up with tamarind sauce, cumin powder, red chilly powder, chat masala. Ready to serve.
