Wash toor dal well and then add in cooker. Then add water and steam it until it become soft.

Then after steamed using hand blender crush it to a fine paste add ½ cup water and mix.

Take utensil for tadka and add oil to it. Then add clove,red chilli dried, star anise and then add mustard seeds, Shahi jeera, asafoetida, curry leaves.

Then cook for a while and again add crushed dal. Then mix and add salt, turmeric, Kashmiri red chilli powder, ginger, chilli and mix it.

Then add jaggery, 1 lemon juice, mix it.

Cook it for some time then add coriander. Now serve khatti mithi Gujarati dal with rice, papad.
