Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  • 2.2 lbsrice vermicelli noodles (about 1 kg)
  • 1.1 lbsground pork (about 500 g)
  • 2carrots
  • 1daikon radish
  • Mixed fresh herbs (such as cilantro, mint, and lettuce)
  • 2 blocksfirm tofu
  • Seasonings: fish sauce, salt, pepper, cooking oil, etc

    First, go to the market to buy the ingredients listed above.
    Cut the rice vermicelli noodles into shorter lengths for easier eating and place them on a plate.

  2. 2

    Season the ground pork with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon fish sauce, 1 tablespoon honey, a pinch of pepper, and 1 finely chopped shallot. Mix well and let marinate for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Heat a deep pan with enough oil to submerge the tofu. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces and fry until golden brown.

  4. 4

    After marinating, shape the pork into small, flat patties. Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 30 minutes.
    Alternatively, you can cook them in an air fryer or pan-fry them.

  5. 5

    Arrange the cooked pork, fried tofu, and fresh herbs on a plate.
    Prepare a side of sweet and sour pickled carrots and daikon to serve with the meal.
    Serve bún chả with sweet and tangy fish sauce dipping sauce.
    Dipping sauce recipe: Mix 5 tablespoons water, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon vinegar or lime juice, and 2 tablespoons fish sauce.
