Soak the chole overnight. Strain the water. In a pressure cooker add water and turmeric. Pressure cook it.

Grind the tomatoes and chillies and make a paste. Add all the ingredients to the paste and mix it well. In a pan add oil. Heat it up. Add asafoetida, cumin, black pepper and paste. Stir it well. Now add some cholas and mash it. Add a bit of water.

Now add cholas and allow it to cook for 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander.

In a pan add water and salt. Allow it to boil. Add the soaked rice and cook it for 5minutes. Cover it with lid for 3 minutes. Strain the water. Serve with cholas.
