Wash dal and rice soak it for 20-25 minutes

In a pan add ghee when hot add cumin mustard seeds asafoetida curry leaves green chilli and ginger garlic finely chopped and saute it add onion chopped in slices

Stir it add potatoes chopped in cubes

Saute them for few more minutes add dry masalas stir add dal and rice mix all together add water double of quantity if you like thin add little more water

I have used frozen peas when 80% khichari cooked I have added them if you are pressure cooker it give just one whistle and put down the flame for 2/3 minutes khichari is ready let the pressure release serve it with curd pickle papad if you are ghee love pour ghee on the hot khichari in serving plate
