Paruppu urundai kuzhambu is one of the traditional south indian kuzhambu varieties. We can prepare paruppu urundai by steaming the dal balls or we can fry it in oil. Let's check the recipe.
Steps

1) Soak chana dal for 1 hour. Drain the water completely. Add this soaked dal to a blender. To that add red chilli and salt while grinding.

2) Add chopped onion and ginger to the ground mixture. Mix it well. In a kadai add 1 tbsp of oil and that dal mixture and saute it for 5 min. It will stick to the vessel make sure to cook in low to medium flame.

3) Make small dumblings. Heat idli maker and grease the idli plates with oil and place the dumblings. Cook it for 8 - 10min and keep it aside.

4) In a blender add the ingredients given under grinding.

5) Heat kadai add tamrind water, salt and turmeric powder. Leave it to boil.

6) Add the ground coconut paste and leave it to boil for 5 min.

7) Add the steamed dumblings to that gravy. Cook for 2 -3 min.

8) Add chopped coriander leaves.

9) Heat another kadai add 1 tsp of oil, red chilli, chopped onion,urad dal,mustard and curry leaves. Add this to that gravy.
