Ingredients

1 hour
2 to 3 servings
  • 250 gmsDiced paneer:
  • 2Onion made into paste
  • 2Tomato made into paste
  • 1 tbspGinger garlic paste
  • 2 tbspCream / milk
  • 1tbsp+ 1tsp Oil / ghee / butter
  • 1Capsicum cut into strips
  • 2 sprigsCoriander leaves
  • 2-3 tbspWater
  • Salt : as per taste
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 1/2lemon Lemon juice
  • 2Green chillies, slit
  • for Whole spices:
  • 4Cloves
  • 2Bay leaves
  • 2Cardamoms
  • 1Small piece Cinnamon
  • 1Small piece Nutmeg
  • 1 tspKasuri methi leaves
  • For Spice powders:
  • 2 tspRed chilli powder:
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder:
  • 1 tspGaram Masala:
  • 1 tspCoriander powder:
  • 1/2 tspCumin powder:
  • 1/4 tspAmchur powder:

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat 1 tbsp of oil/ ghee / butter in a kadhai and to it add cumin seeds. Allow the seeds to crackle.

  2. 2

    Then add all the ingredients listed under "Whole spices" and allow it to roast on low flame for about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

    To it add the onion paste and cook for about 2 minutes till the raw smell goes on low flame.

  4. 4

    Then add ginger garlic paste to the kadhai and let the ingredients cook till the raw smell goes. This step takes about a minute.

  5. 5

    To it add pureed tomatoes and let the contents cook for about 20 minutes till the oil floats over the tomatoes. Cover and cook on low flame.

  6. 6

    After 20 minutes check if the ingredients are cooked and then add 1 tbsp of water. To it ass kasuri methi and stir and let it cook.

  7. 7

    To the tomatoes add all the ingredients listed under "Spice powders" and then roast it for about 2 minutes.

    Add chopped capsicums and allow the mixture to cool for about 7 minutes.

  9. 9

    After the capsicum is cooked add cream / milk and lemon juice. Stir and cook the contents for about 5 minutes.

    To it add salt and paneer and cover and cook for about 6 minutes on low flame.

  11. 11

    Turn off the flame and garnish it with slit chilli, green coriander and some ghee.

    Serve it hot with roti / naan / parantha.
