Dal Khichdi ข้าวต้มอินเดีย Dal Khichdi ข้าวต้มอินเดีย
Childhood memories: Sunday was family day. Our traditional Sunday lunch would always include a fresh deep fried fish and Hasmo. This would be served on a thaal which is a big silver plate. “Hasmo” for us means mixing everything together. We’d mix the dhaal, rice , roti , fried chillies , kachumber (onion salad) together in the middle of the thaal and then make a tiny space to put the hot charcoal and then pour hot ghee over the mixture. We would then cover all with another big plate to smoke it. Once smoked we would all enjoy and eat together. It is a family food that I really miss!I would call this dish that I made today as ‘Hasmo’ but other people call it ‘Dal Khichdi’ or ‘Khichdi’This is how I made mine. M.A.DFoodie -
Vendhaya keerai kootu recipe, fenugreek leaves kootu Vendhaya keerai kootu recipe, fenugreek leaves kootu
Vendhaya keerai or fenugreek leaves (methi leaves) with moong dal in South Indian way. No bitterness will be felt in this kootu. I have been thinking kootu will be bitter and avoided making it. This is the first time I am making this south Indian style kootu, though I have made methi dal north Indian way couple of times. After making vendhaya keerai sambar, I found it won't be bitter. So I picked fresh leaves from balcony( homegrown). SaranyaSenthil -

Pan Fried and Baked Fenugreek Seeds Tikki Pan Fried and Baked Fenugreek Seeds Tikki
#post13 - Fenugreek seeds helps in lowering blood sugar levels and controls cholesterol, besides various other benefits. So prepare this healthy tikki with these wonder seeds as it is diabetic friendly. They can be had as an appetizer with chutney / sauce or made into a gravy as per choice. I have added some gram flour, rice flour which is optional, spinach, flaxseed and other basic seasonings to make this healthy tikki. In this recipe you will find two ways of preparing these tikkis - by pan fry method and baking method. Either way it tastes great and can be served as a tea time snack too. They can also be enjoyed as a chaat with a generous helping of some spiced yoghurt, chutneys, chopped onion, tomatoes, etc. #goldenapron Bethica Das -
