Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1/2 cupgobindabhog or basmati rice
  • 1/2 cupsona moong dal
  • 2potatoes cut into cubes
  • 2green chillies(spited)
  • 1dry red chilli
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1small piece ginger(grated)
  • 1tomato (chopped)
  • 1/4 cupsmall coconut pieces
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/4 tspjeera seeds
  • 1 tbspghee
  • 4 cupswarm water or as required
  • As neededCoriander leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak rice & dal in water for minimum 30 mints, then rinse it well,drain the water & keep aside.

  2. 2

    Heat ghee in a pan, add jeera seeds, bay leaf, dry red chilli.When jeera splutters,add green chilli, grated ginger,chopped tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Now add the potato,coconut pieces & fry for a mints.Then add the drained rice, dal & mix well.Add salt,turmeric powder.

  4. 4

    Pour 4 cups water or as required.Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.

  5. 5

    Once the pressure subsides by itself drizzle little ghee on top.

  6. 6

    Garnish it with coriander leaves & coconut pieces.Serve hot with papad, pineapple chutney or any other of your choice.
