Ingredients

2 servings
  1. For boiling dal:
  2. 1 bowlGram dal (chana)
  3. 2 1/2 bowl water
  4. To taste salt
  5. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  6. 200 gmpalak (Spinach)
  7. For seasoning :
  8. 1 tbsp pure ghee
  9. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  10. 4-6 podsgarlic
  11. 1 inch piece grated ginger
  12. 1onion
  13. 1Tomato
  14. 1/4 tspred chilli powder
  15. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  16. 1/4 tspcoriander seeds powder
  17. 1/4 tspgaram masala

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash and rinse.Chana dal put it in pressure cooker. Add water, turmeric and salt pressure cook for 5 minutes after first whistle. Let pressure releases automatically.

    Wash and clean spinach. Dry it on kitchen towel. Chop nicely.

    Add chopped spinach in dal cooker. Mix. Adjust the consistency of water by adding a little water and plce the lid and pressure cook again till 4-6 whistles.

    Chop onion, ginger chilli and garlic. Grate tomato and make a puree.

    Heat ghee in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put grated garlic and saute for 1 minute.

    Add ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add onion and saute till it turn pinkish.

    Add tomato puree and green chilli. Sauté till oil leaves the sides. Add red chilli powder, turmeric coriander seeds powder and garam masala and mix. Add dal and spinach mixture.

    Mix it and let it simmer on low flame for 7-8 minutes till tadka mix well with dal. Switch off the flame.

    Serve hot with chapatti or rice.
