This is part of my 'pasta in one pan' series. Use the pasta cooking method described into make a simple tomato pasta.

The pasta is on the soft side. If you prefer it firmer, shorten the time you let the pan rest in Step 5, or don't cook it for very long in Step 6 and have it as soup pasta. If you are using vegetables with high water content like cabbage, reduce the amount of water. Recipe by Nekozame

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1 tbspOlive oil
  2. 1 cloveGarlic
  3. 2 sliceBacon (or sausage)
  4. 1Green bell pepper, onion, carrot, eggplant or any vegetables you like
  5. 200 gramsPasta
  6. 1 can● Canned tomateos (whole or cut/crushed)
  7. 1enough so that the canned tomatoes + water equals 800 ml ●Water
  8. 1 pinch●Salt
  9. 2 tsp●Soup stock granules
  10. 1Ketchup
  11. 1Salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Crush the garlic with a knife then mince finely. Slice the bacon thinly. Cut up the vegetables anyway you like (julienne, chop, etc.)

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a pan and saute the garlic. When it's fragrant, add the bacon and vegetables, and saute lightly.

  3. 3

Add the ● ingredients (400 g of cut tomatoes was 400 ml. So you'd add 400 ml of water in that case). Bring to a boil over high heat.

  4. 4

When it's boiling, add the pasta broken in half. Cook over medium heat for 1 minute while stirring to prevent the pasta from sticking.

  5. 5

Turn the heat off and cover with a lid. Leave for 1 minute less than the cooking time indicated on the pasta package.

  6. 6

Take the lid off and separate the pasta. Turn the heat back on, and evaporate the liquid in the pan over high heat (this takes 2 to 3 minutes).

  7. 7

Adjust the seasoning with ketchup, salt and pepper and it's done!
