Moong Dal Tadka

While everyone around me is cooking scrumptious, lavish meals, I am enjoying my comfort food - "Dal - Chawal". A lavish meal works for a day or two only, but I find my solace in the staple Dal chawal.🙂
A dollop of ghee in bowl of Dal, with red chillies and garlic tadka, and that aroma can make me forget my worries and tiredness.
Either with rice, (Da - Chawal) or with roti. ( दाल रोटी खाओ, प्रभु के गुण गाओ) 🙂
So, here's my recipe of Moong Dal Tadka.

Moong Dal Tadka

So, here's my recipe of Moong Dal Tadka.

Wash and soak yellow moong dal for 30 mins.

Pressure cook dal for 2 whistles, with turmeric, salt and jaggery and 1 1/2 cup water on a medium flame. Let the pressure drop in the cooker naturally. Open the lid and mash the dal.

In a tadka pan, add a dollop of ghee, add Jerra and let it crackle. Add garlic, ginger, green chillies, methi seeds powder, haldi powder, a pinch of salt, curry leaves and red chilli powder.

Pour this tadka over Dal. Enjoy and relish this meal with steamed rice, jeera rice, roti or paratha..
