Ingredients

8 servings
  1. 2.2 lbsripe tomatoes (about 1 kg)
  2. 1small bunch fresh epazote
  3. 1/2onion
  4. 3 clovesgarlic
  5. chicken bouillon or chicken broth
  6. corn tortillas, cut into thin strips and fried
  7. Mexican crema (or sour cream)
  8. cheese (such as queso fresco or Monterey Jack)
  9. avocado

Steps

    Blend the tomatoes with the epazote, garlic, and onion. Pour the mixture into a pot and cook to let the flavors develop.

    Once seasoned, add chicken broth or water with chicken bouillon to reach your desired soup consistency. Bring to a boil.

    Place a handful of fried tortilla strips in a deep bowl. Pour the hot soup over the tortillas, just enough to partially cover them. Garnish with crema, cheese, and avocado. For extra flavor and presentation, you can add a dried chile de árbol if desired.

    That's it! Enjoy this delicious and easy-to-make dish with family and friends.
