Dal palak is a high protein and super healthy recipe made with lentils, spinach and tempered with aromatic indian spices! Mostly made with toor dal (pigeon peas) I have used a combination of 3 dal's masoor dal (red lentils) toor dal (pigeon peas) and Chana dal. Dal palak is a high protein and super healthy recipe made with lentils, spinach and tempered with aromatic indian spices! Into a pressure cooker add dal's, water, turmeric and salt mix well and cook for 3-4 whistle

In a pan heat water, once heated add cleaned and chopped palak cook for a min

Palak is blanched, remove from hot water and immediately transfer it to iced water, let it sit for a few seconds and then take off

Meanwhile dal is well cooked, gently mash it

Into a kadai add 3 tbsp of ghee, add cumin seeds and asafetida

Then add green chillies and saute well

Add onion and cook until translucent, then add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone

Add tomatoes and saute well, then add turmeric powder

Chilli powder, coriander powder and salt saute well. Sprinkle some water if its too dry (to avoid burning)

Saute well and cook until tomatoes are mushy

Once tomatoes are mushy, add the blanched palak and mix well, cook for a min then add cooked and mashed dal

Mix well, add some water and adjust the consistency and allow it to boil

Once dal is boiled squeeze half a lemon, garam Masala and freshly chopped coriander leaves

Stir well and cook for a minute, then switch off the flame.

In a tempering kadai, add ghee, cumin seeds and hing

Add whole red chilli, onion

And cook until golden brown, then add red chilli powder and saute and switch off the flame.

Add the tadka on dal palak, and here you go it's perfectly ready to be served

Serve hot with rice, chapathi or paratha
