Murgh Akhrot/walnut chicken, a simple rich creamy yet healthy recipe is an alternate to cashew gravy, absolutely delicious and a regular in my kitchen.
Steps

Wash n drain chicken pieces thoroughly, apply ginger garlic paste, turmeric, chilli powder, salt and lemon juice and keep aside for 30 minutes.

Dry toast Walnuts briefly, when cool make powder.

Heat up oil in a pan, saute chopped onions till it turns brown, add pureed tomatoes and fry till oil separates. Add crushed dry red chilli, coriander and cumin powder along with pepper powder.

Add marinated chicken, stir well so that masala coats chicken properly.

Add 1.5 cups of boiling water, cover n cook till the chicken is cooked.

Add walnut powder and curry powder. *You can substitute curry powder with garam masala powder.

Mix well, adjust the consistency as desired by adding boiling water, let it simmer. Lastly add cream (optional) and cook for a minute.

Your lip-smacking walnut chicken/murgh akhrot is ready to serve.
