Three Cup Chicken Three Cup Chicken
Three Cup Chicken is a popular stable dish in Taiwanese cuisine. In Taiwan, you can find it at the night market or any Taiwanese restaurant. Three Cup Chicken got its name because, traditionally, 1 cup of an equal amount of rice wine, soy sauce, and sesame oil were used to make the sauce. But using 3 cups of each will be too salty. So the measurement has been adjusted based on the amount of chicken. You can serve three cup chicken with steamed rice and veggie on the side because it is very savory and has a strong flavor. Taiwanese-Style Fried Chicken Taiwanese-Style Fried Chicken
I really wanted to eat some crispy chi-pai so I tried making some with ingredients that I had at home (in this case, Gaban's jerk chicken seasoning and five-spice) to come up with an Asian-style spicy fried chicken.I tried out a lot of recipes for the seasoning mixture and managed to come up with one that kept the chicken crispy even when cool.Make sure to deep-fry the chicken crisply. The first layer of seasoning should be quite thin, with a thick layer of seasoning added after dipping the chicken in egg.Allow the chicken to sit for a while once coated with seasoning (topping the layer of seasoning up anywhere you have to). Fry the chicken once the coating is nice and moist. For 1-2 servings. Recipe by Homard Ebiko cookpad.japan -
Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup
The recipe I want to share with you today is the Taiwanese Sesame Oil Chicken Soup or Ma Yo Gi Ton in mandarin Chinese. This is an authentic and hearty dish for Taiwanese, especially during the winter months because this dish is considered “warm” or wholesome. This soup is often made for women who have given birth or for people who simply want to feel warmer during the cold weather. Taiwanese believe the combination of rice wine, black sesame oil, and ginger will help with blood circulation so it’s perfect for cold weather. Taiwanese Sweet and Savoury Chicken Basil Hot Pot Taiwanese Sweet and Savoury Chicken Basil Hot Pot
This is a regular dish in Taiwanese restaurants. I miss this dish living in Japan, so I tried to recreate this dish at home. The clay pots are very effective with heat conductivity. Fry gently over low to medium heat without burning. You need to cook with a lot of oil, but it'll harden once cooled so cook in an earthenware pot so that the heat retains and serve immediately.Take care not to burn yourself though. Two-and-Half-Cup -Chicken Two-and-Half-Cup -Chicken
This idea is also from Ansley Eats the Street, Taipei episode. The recipe is called Three-Cup Chicken. But because I don’t have one of it’s important ingredient: rice wine, nor do I know how the original dish tastes so I am calling mine Two-and-Half-Cup Chicken. I’ll have to substitute Sojoo for the rice wine. 2choi
