Ingredients

30 minutes
2 peoples
  • 2 cupsbottle guard cubes
  • 1/2 cupchana dal(soak for 1 hour)
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 tbspcumin seeds
  • 2 pinchesasafoetida
  • 1/2 cuptomato paste
  • 1 tspgarlic paste
  • 1 tspturmeric
  • 1 tspcumin coriander powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspgaram masala
  • 1 tbspjaggery
  • 1 tspSalt as per your taste
  • 1 tsplemon juice
  • As requiredGreen coriander leaves for garnishing

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly, wash and soak chana dal for 1 hour. & cut the bottle gourd in cubes. Now, combine bottle guard and chana dal in a pressure cooker & cook it for 3-4 whistles. And keep aside.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds when it crackle after adding asafoetida and saute well in medium flame. Then add garlic paste & saute well till its raw smell is gone.

  3. 3

    After that add tomato paste and combine well for few minutes. Further add turmeric, salt, red chilli powder, cumin-coriander powder, garam masala, jaggery & lemon juice and mix well.

  4. 4

    Now add bottle gourd-chana dal mixture and cook all the ingredients for 2-3 minutes. And stir occasionally. At last, garnish it with green coriander leaves.
