Chayote Chana dal Pepper Kootu

Wash and cut the Chayote into small pieces.

Soak Chana in warm water. Pressure cook moong dal for 2 whistles.

In a pan add little water and cook chayote fr a few minutes. In a pan dry roast the ingredients for a few minutes and grind everything into a fine paste

In a pan add oil when it is hot add Mustard seeds. When it splutter add urad dal, red chilli, hing and curry leaves.

Add the cooked chayote, turmeric powder, salt and cooked dal.

Add the grinded paste, mix well and boil for a few minutes. Switch off the flame. Goes well with hot rice, ghee.
