This cookie marries two of my fave cookies - oatmeal and molasses. Crisp edges, with soft chewy centers. So yummy.

Ingredients

10-12 minutes
3 to 4 dozen cookies
  1. 1 CupSugar
  2. 1/2 Cupshortening
  3. 2eggs
  4. 1/3 CupMolasses
  5. 1 3/4 Cupsifted flour
  6. 1 tspbaking soda
  7. 1 tspsalt
  8. 1/2 tspcinnamon
  9. 2 cupsOatmeal
  10. 1/3 Cupraisins (optional)
  11. 1/2 cupchopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Cooking Instructions

10-12 minutes
  1. 1

Cream shortening and sugar. Mix in eggs and molasses, salt, soda and cinnamon.

  2. 2

Stir in sifted flour ingredients, then oatmeal, then raisins and nuts. (Instead of sifting the flour, I just used a spoon to fill the cup, and leveled. This makes sure there isn’t too much flour because it isn’t packed.)

  3. 3

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes on cookie sheet before transferring to wire racks.

Happily married Christian mom of four. As a homeschooling mom, I get VERY bored with making the same meals regularly. I strive to have family dinners at least 5 nights a week. This app is my fave. Most of the recipes I add come from old church cookbooks, or are family recipes. I tweak almost everything I make, and every recipe I add is something I think is delish.
