Ingredients

  • 1 cupSabut Masoor dal
  • 1large onion, finely chopped
  • 2tomatoes
  • 2green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, finely chopped (lahsun)
  • 1 tsp minced ginger(Adrak)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • As per taste salt
  • 3 cupwater
  • Herbs and spices (for Dal) :
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powdered (haldi)
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhania powder)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • For Chawal (Rice):
  • 3 cupRice (Normal or Basmati)
  • 2 cupwater
  • 1 tsp salt

    For Dal:
    Wash sabut Masoor dal and soak for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Pressure cook dal with 3 cup water,turmeric, red chilli powder and pinch of salt over medium-high heat for about 15 mins. or until it gets tender.

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.Splutter cumin seeds, chopped green chillies, onion, garlic, ginger. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for about 3-4 mins on medium flame.

  4. 4

    Now, add cooked Masoor dal mixture and Coriander powder to the large frying pan and turn the heat to low, stir it well, cover the pan and cook further until the dal gets soften.

  5. 5

    Serve it with rice.

    Try some pickle along with it.
