Ingredients

4 persons
  1. 2 cupboiled chickpeas stock+1 tbsp puran
  2. Lemonsize qty. tamarind
  3. Lemon size qty. jaggery
  4. 1/2 tspchilli powder
  5. 1/2 tspkala masala
  6. 1/2 tspcoriander Cumin powder
  7. 1 pinchturmeric
  8. 1/2 tspgrated ginger
  9. 1/2 tspfenugreek powder
  10. 1/2 tspSalt
  11. For tempering 1tbsp ghee,
  12. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  13. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  14. Curry leaves few
  15. 1 pinchasafoetida
  16. 1whole red chilli
  17. For garnishing 1tbsp grated fresh coconut and coriander leaves

Cooking Instructions

    Turn the gas on. Keep sauce pan on burner

  2. 2

    Add ghee, then add mustard seeds and let them crackle. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chilli and stir.

    Soak tamarind in water and squeeze out the juice

  4. 4

    Now add this tamarind juice into tempering.

  5. 5

    Add jaggery, red chilli powder, kala masala, coriander, cumin powder, fenugreek powder, grated ginger and salt. Bring the sauce pan contents to a boil.

    Now add chick peas stock to the pan. Stir well. Let it boil for five to ten minutes.

    Finally add fresh coconut and coriander leaves.

  8. 8

    Remove this curry in serving bowl and serve with puranpoli or rice.
