Ssam is a Korean-style vegetable wrap (mostly lettuce) to wrap meat 🥩 and other fillings. Today, we have minced beef in the office so we decided to cook this together. Kindly adjust the amount of ingredients used according to your liking~

Minced Beef & Rice Ssam
Ssam is a Korean-style vegetable wrap (mostly lettuce) to wrap meat 🥩 and other fillings. Today, we have minced beef in the office so we decided to cook this together. Kindly adjust the amount of ingredients used according to your liking~

Wash the vegetables and cut all ingredients into small pieces. Prepare the cooked rice separately. Example of how to cook rice attached in this step.

Heat the pan in medium-high heat, add vegetable oil, and then add garlic, shallot, and ginger, wait until it simmers (around 1 minute)

Add the meat, change the heat to high, continue to mix it until it cooked evenly. When it’s halfway cooked, add oyster sauce and nutmeg

Add the remaining ingredients (mushroom, basil, pepper, bay leaves) when meat is almost cooked, reduce the heat to medium high. When it’s done (before serving it), drain the remaining oil & fat with colander, so it’s not too fatty.

Make the dipping sauce: just mix soy sauce with thin cut leek. Optional: sambal on the side for some spicy kick 🌶

How to eat: grab some lettuce, put rice in, add the minced meat. Dip into the sauce, and bite bite! Enjoy!
