Basic Oven-Baked Chicken for Beginners
This recipe came together after looking at several others—it's foolproof, super simple, and basic with no complications.
Steps
- 1
Season the chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chicken bouillon or chicken-flavored seasoning.
- 2
Let the chicken marinate for a few minutes while you peel the potatoes and carrot. Slice them into rounds and place them in a baking dish. Once the potatoes are in, add the sliced carrots on top.
- 3
Place the chicken in the baking dish on top of the potatoes and carrots.
- 4
Add enough water to cover the layer of potatoes and carrots, but not the chicken—just enough to reach the bottom part of the chicken. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake until the chicken is cooked through.
- 5
Once the chicken is cooked, remove the foil so the chicken can brown. When it's golden, it's ready to serve. This dish is delicious with white rice.
