Pork Floss Sushi Rolls
A fun weekend activity: making sushi rolls at home.

Cut the carrot into long strips and boil until tender. Cut the cucumber into strips, sprinkle with salt to draw out moisture, then rinse briefly. Beat the eggs, cook into a flat omelet, and cut into long strips. Heat a mixture of sugar and vinegar, then mix it into the cooked rice to make seasoned sushi rice. Spread the rice out to cool.

Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat, add a layer of rice and your fillings, then roll it up tightly.

Wet a sharp knife and slice the sushi rolls.

If you’ve never made sushi rolls before, it can be tricky to get it right the first time and there’s a lot of prep work. Treat it as a fun activity with kids—otherwise, buying ready-made sushi is definitely faster.
