Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupsugar (100 g)
  • 4 1/4 cupsmilk (1 liter)
  • 3/4 cupcornstarch (100 g)

Steps

about 30 minutes
  1. 1

    Pour the sugar into a saucepan and heat over medium heat to make a dry caramel.

  2. 2

    In a mixing bowl, combine the milk and cornstarch and mix well.

  3. 3

    Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the milk and cornstarch mixture over the caramel, stirring to combine.

  4. 4

    Return the saucepan to the heat and stir constantly until the mixture thickens into a custard.

  5. 5

    Pour the custard into ramekins and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.

    Serve the crème caramel well chilled.
