Fresh barbatti and kala chana make a nice combination, which goes very well with any kind of rotis or rice items.

Fresh barbatti and kala chana make a nice combination, which goes very well with any kind of rotis or rice items.

Soak the kala chana for 3/4 hours and boil in pressure cooker for 2 whistles. Chop the veggies length wise into one inch pieces.

Heat oil, add hing and crackle cumin seeds. Then goes finely chopped onion and minced garlic.

Mix the veggies and boiled chana. Add the dry masalas: turmeric powder, cumin, coriander, chilli powder and salt. Cover and cook in low-medium flame for 10 minutes.

Keep checking occasionally to make sure it doesn’t stick to pan, if needed add half cup water. Add chopped tomato when the veggies are cooked around 70/80% and cover and cook again until done.

After another 5/7 minutes, it’s ready. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve.
