Perfect for American independence day. People will be hesitant to dig in so please break into it first to get the cheese ball rolling.

  8. as neededPecans and sliced almonds,
  9. Lemon rind

Cooking Instructions

1 hr
  1. 1

Let the butter and cream cheese come up to room temperature. Shred the cheese in the meantime.

  2. 2

Mix the ingredients for the cheese ball together. Form into a bird shape on the serving platter.

  3. 3

Cut a large section of lemon rind into a triangle to use as the beak (I inserted two black sesame seeds for the nostrils). Cut two more large sections of lemon rinds and cut each one into a three clawed bird foot.

  4. 4

Decorate the body of the bird with pecans, leaving the head empty as well as the wing sections. Use sliced almonds to fill in the wings like feathers.

  5. 5

Add small pieces of olives for the eyes.

  6. 6

Refrigerate for a few hours and serve with crackers of your choice.
