Ingredients

  1. 2 Tbsunsalted butter
  2. 1finely diced onion
  3. 2 tspWorcestershire sauce
  4. 1 tspwhite sugar
  5. 1/3 cupplus a little more beef broth
  6. 2 tspthyme
  7. 1 poundground beef
  8. Salt & pepper to taste
  9. 4hoagie rolls
  10. Sliced provolone cheese, 1 1/2 slices per grinder

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat an oven to 400 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
In a skillet preheated to medium heat, melt the butter. Place the onion into the skillet and cook for a few minutes. Add salt, pepper, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Stir and cook for another couple of minutes. Add beef broth and cook until onions are gold brown. If you need to add more beef broth to keep the sauce slightly liquid go for it.

  2. 2

Next, in a large bowl add the ground beef. Pour the onion mixture into the bowl with the meat. Using your fingers gently combine all the ingredients. Roll out 9-12 meatballs. Cook meatballs 12-14 minutes, take out of oven and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

I removed meatballs and wiped down pan. Place rolls down and put 3 meatballs in each and 1 1/2 slices of cheese on each, broil until cheese is bubbly. I put a little mayonnaise on mine, so good.
