Delicious Beef Brisket in a Slow Cooker

An affordable cut becomes tender and delicious with slow cooking—just wait and enjoy! The meat juices are perfect for making homemade gravy.
The origin of this recipe
I fell in love with a piece of meat about five times this size at the butcher's. I had it cut to 850g to fit in the slow cooker. This simple low-temperature cooking method lets you enjoy the natural flavor of the meat without fail.

The origin of this recipe
I fell in love with a piece of meat about five times this size at the butcher's. I had it cut to 850g to fit in the slow cooker. This simple low-temperature cooking method lets you enjoy the natural flavor of the meat without fail.
Steps
- 1
Bring the meat to room temperature 2-3 hours before cooking.
- 2
I used garlic oil as a substitute for fresh garlic. Season the meat with salt and pepper, and cut the vegetables to your preferred size.
- 3
Heat a frying pan, add oil, and sear the meat on both sides and edges over high heat.
- 4
Once browned, place the meat in the slow cooker and set it to low. This is about the same temperature as the keep-warm function on a rice cooker.
- 5
In the same pan, sauté the onion and parsnip in the remaining meat juices, add the red wine, and simmer lightly.
- 6
Add all the juices and vegetables around the meat in the slow cooker and leave it for 4-5 hours.
- 7
After 5 hours, the meat will be immersed in its juices. Use these juices to make gravy.
- 8
Blend the softened vegetables in a food processor until smooth, then heat them in a pan with the meat juices, horseradish, and whole grain mustard.
- 9
The meat will be so tender it falls apart without needing a knife. Serve with the rich gravy!
