Easy Halloween Sandwich Bento

Ingredients: 2 dinner rolls; as needed Butter,; 1 mini hamburger patty (homemade or store-bought); 2 leaves green leaf lettuce; 1 tablespoon mayonnaise; 1 tablespoon ketchup; 1 egg; 1/2 tablespoon milk; 1 teaspoon sugar; Pinch salt; 1 slice American cheese; as needed Nori (dried seaweed),

The only detailed step for this character bento is cutting out the eyes! Just assemble the rest for cute monster sandwiches. This recipe was inspired by overseas Instagram posts. I made this bento for my daughter's school field trip at her request—she wanted a character bento that wasn't too babyish (lol).

1 tablespoonmayonnaise
1 tablespoonketchup
1egg
1/2 tablespoonmilk
1 teaspoonsugar

Steps

Make the eyes: Cut the cheese slice into circles, then place small round pieces of nori on top to make pupils.

In a bowl, mix the egg with sugar, milk, and salt. Cook into a small omelet. (Photo shows 2 servings.)

Cut a diagonal slit in each dinner roll and lightly spread butter inside.

Add a lettuce leaf and squeeze about 1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise inside. Place the hamburger patty on top.

Drizzle about 1/2 tablespoon ketchup over the hamburger patty.

For the other roll, spread butter inside, then layer lettuce, mayonnaise, omelet, and ketchup in that order.

Attach the cheese eyes with a little mayonnaise to finish.

For a side: Use fish cake and kamaboko. Make eyes and a mouth with nori and stick them on with a toothpick.

For a pumpkin ghost side: Microwave pumpkin until soft, mash it, mix with sugar and butter, shape into balls, and add eyes.

Wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap to keep them from drying out and to help them hold their shape.
