Cooking Instructions

Step 1: Choose a red wine that’s not too expensive. It doesn’t need to be high in alcohol. We recommend wines from Jumilla, Alicante, or Valencia. Pour the wine into a bowl or pitcher and add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves completely.
- 2
Step 2: Squeeze the oranges and add the juice to the bowl. You can also slice an orange and add a few whole slices for garnish.
- 3
Step 3: Wash the peaches, peel them, and cut them into small wedges (for example, cut a medium peach into six pieces). Add them to the mixture. If peaches aren’t in season, you can substitute with any fruit you have on hand.
- 4
Step 4: Place everything in a large pitcher or container, preferably a clay pitcher. Refrigerate until very cold. Serve chilled. To reduce the alcohol content, add ice cubes and a few lemon slices. For a stronger sangria, add a splash of brandy or good-quality rum.

Authentic Sangria with Red Wine Authentic Sangria with Red Wine
I wanted to make sangria with additive-free wine and organic fruits.Banana makes sangria cloudy, but also very tasty. If you'd like your sangria to stay transparent, omit it (I tried to wrap banana with parchment paper this time as an experiment). Add mango or papaya (these tend to be a bit expensive, so frozen ones are okay) for a tropical flair. A simple Cabernet Sauvignon would be ideal for this. Basically, though, you can use any kind of wine because you add lots of fruits anyway. Whenever you open a new bottle and you don't like it, try making it into a sangria. I love pomegranate juice so I modified an American recipe ("Lots of Alcohol - 3 Types of Alcohol") to make it easier to drink.Leave it to rest for a while in the fridge before serving.Modify the fruit and sweetness to taste. If you don't want it to contain too much alcohol, you can dilute with soda water and it'll still be delicious.
