Ingredients

  1. 6 piecesKatla fillets
  2. 150 grammoong dal
  3. 3 piecestomato (cube cut)
  4. 1 and half teaspoons ginger paste
  5. 2 teaspoonscoriander leaves paste
  6. 5-6sliced green chillies
  7. 2 teaspoonsturmeric powder
  8. 1 teaspooncumin seeds
  9. 1 teaspooncumin powder
  10. Half teaspoon laal mirch powder
  11. Half teaspoon garam masala powder
  12. 20 mlmustard oil
  13. 1 teaspoonghee
  14. Halflime juice
  15. Salt & sugar to taste
  16. Deep frying
  17. 100 mlmustard oil

    Here is the recipe of delicious Moong Katla. At first marinate katla fillets with half teaspoon of salt & lime juice for 30 minutes. In the mean time roast moong dal in a heated frying pan until it gets golden. Now boil moong dal in a pressure cooker. Now divide the boiled moong dal into two equal portion.

    Keep one portion aside in a bowl and grind another portion with some water. Now in a frying pan heat some oil and deep fry katla fillets.

    Remove three quarter of the heated oil in a bowl and keep aside. In the remaining oil fry green chillies and cumin seeds before adding ginger paste. Saute them for 2 minutes in medium flame with some salt and turmeric powder. Now it's the time to add tomato cubes and cook it for 3-4 minutes and add some water. Now mix cumin powder and laal mirch powder into the gravy. When the mixture gets thickened add boiled moong dal into it.

    After mixing the boiled moong dal with the mixture add coriander leaves paste. By adding some water, salt and sugar cook the gravy for 5 minutes before adding the smashed boiled moong dal. Cover the lid and cook for 5-6 minutes in low medium flame.

    Pour about 20 ml of fried mustard oil into the gravy add the katla fillets. Now again cover the lid and cook for 36 minutes more and spread garam masala powder and ghee over the gravy. It's now ready for serve with steamed rice.
