Steps

Heat oil in a pressure cooker, fry vadis on low flame for 30 seconds. Take out and keep aside. Add fenugreek seeds, let them crackle. Add chopped onion and fry till golden. Now add all powdered spices except garam masala powder. Mix well. Add tomato, ginger garlic paste and salt also. Saute, 1-2 minutes.

Add soaked chana dal and vadis. Saute till oil separates. Add 1 cup water. Pressure cook for 5-6 minutes on low flame or till done.

Let pressure release. Adjust consistency. Add green chillies,garam masala powder and kasuri methi. Mix.

For tampering, heat ghee in a tadka pan. Add cumin seeds and red chillies. Saute, 5 seconds. Remove from flame and add kashmiri chilli powder. Pour over dal.

Chana dal vadi is ready to be served. Serve with boiled rice.
