Steps
- 1
Soak Moong Dal for 4-5 hours and then drain off excess water.
Assemble ingredients - 2
Grind to smooth paste or can be kept bit coarse.
Add 1 tbsp ghee in moderately heated pan / kadhai, roast cashews + melon seeds to golden brown and keep aside. - 3
In same pan / kadhai, add ghee, then gradually add Moong Dal and keep stirring. At first it will be lumpy.
Gradually lumps will break by continuously stirring under low flame. - 4

Simmer for 4-5 minutes till water from sugar evaporates and ghee is seen on surface. - 5
Halwa is done.
Transfer to serving dish and garnish with roasted cashews or almonds.
