I have made this Uttarakhand style dal with some changes.
This dal has great nutritive value: it's full of proteins, iron, calcium, phosphorus.
Consuming this dal is effective in eradicating kidney problems.
This dal reduces LDL Cholesterol and increases HDL Cholesterol.

Consuming this dal is effective in eradicating kidney problems.

Wash horsegram dal well and soak it for 10 hours in water. Drain and wash the dal again and take it in a cooker. Add in 3 times water and salt. Add in 2 tsp oil..........Cook the horsegram dal to 10 WHISTLES. (This dal takes longer cooking time.)

Soak masoor dal for 15 minutes and boil it in another cookerto 2 whistles. Meanwhile, pound the ggg, dhania seeds and cloves coarsely.

Ready all the other masalas. Chop onions and tomatoes. When pressure subsides check if the dal has cooled well. Drain off all the water used for boiling andkeep aside. (This water is full of medicinal value for kidney problems.) Also churn the boiled masoordal. (This gives thickness to the dal)

In a pan take ghee add jira and hing. Add in onions and saute for 3 minutes. Add in the pounded masala. Saute well for 2 minutes.

Now add in chopped tomatoes and saute for 2 minutes. Add in dry masalas and salt. Mix for 30 seconds. Add in 1/4 cup water and cook a bit. Add in the boiled horsegram dal. Mix and mash some dal to give thickness.

Add in boiled and churned masoor dal. Mix. Add in water as required and set the desired dal consistency. Boil the dal on slow gas for 10 minutes. Switch off gas and add in lemon juice. Mix. Garnish with 1tsp malai and coriander.

Serve HORSEGRAM DAL(KULTHI) with roti, rice, salad and sabzi. Enjoy a healthy, tasty meal with family and friends. Happy Cooking😊!!
