Ingredients

  1. 2 cupchana
  2. 2cloves
  3. 1small piece cinnamon
  4. 1bay leaf
  5. 4pepper corns
  6. 2 tspcoriander leaves chopped
  7. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  8. 1 tspchilli powder
  9. 1 tspsambar masala
  10. 1 tspfennel seeds
  11. 4 tspoil
  12. Salt to taste
  13. 1 tspjaggery
  14. 2tomatoes chopped
  15. 2green chillies slit
  16. For masala paste
  17. 2cloves
  18. 1 tsppepper corns
  19. 2 tspfennel seeds
  20. 1 tspjeera
  21. 2 tspcoriander seeds
  22. 1,1/2 poppy seeds
  23. 1 tspoil
  24. 1/2 inchginger
  25. 8curry leaves
  26. 1/2 cupfresh coconut grated

    Soak chana overnight, next day pressure cook it with cloves,bay leaf, cinnamon, pepper corns and salt till soft (5,6 whistles)

    For paste,heat oil add fennel seeds, cloves, pepper corns, poppy seeds,jeera coriander and fry for a few minutes then add ginger,curry leaves then add little water and coconut grated off the heat, cool it then make paste of it.

    Now heat oil then add fennel seeds slit green chillies then add tomato chopped and fry till soft then add chilli powder, sambar masala,salt, jagarry turmeric powder fry till oil separates then add ground paste fry for few minutes then add cook chana and mix it and boil for few minutes.

    Finally add coriander leaves and satvik chole is ready to serve with rice,roti or poori.
