(stove-top version) Open-Faced Chicken and Gravy
This is the stove-top version of the Instant Pot version I did for people who don’t have an Instant Pot.
Steps
- 1
Start a pan of water on stove and turn on high.
- 2
Cut chicken into 1/2 inch - 1 inch pieces.
- 3
Once water is boiling, put chicken in. Turn down heat a bit so water doesn't boil out of pan.
- 4
In another pot on stove, melt butter. Once it's melted and starts to bubble, add in flour.
- 5
Keep whisking together until well combined.
(Keep whisking so flour doesn't burn on bottom of pan.) - 6
When flour/butter mixture is combined and bubbling some, add in chicken broth and whisk together. (Mixture will thicken and start to bubble.) Add seasonings.
- 7
When chicken is done, put it in a large bowl and shred. (Use a hand mixer and it shreds it fast & perfectly!)
- 8
Place chicken back into gravy mixture and stir.
- 9
Toast bread slices and ladle gravy/chicken on top of each.
