Ingredients

Serves 8 servings
  1. 4 1/4 cupsmilk (1 liter)
  2. 1 stickcinnamon
  3. 1whole star anise
  4. 1 cansweetened condensed milk
  5. 1 canevaporated milk
  6. 2large Mexican sweet breads (picones) or 2 loaves of bread pudding
  7. 3.5 ozraisins (100 grams)
  8. 3.5 ozwalnuts (100 grams)
  9. 3.5 ozshredded coconut, optional (100 grams)

Steps

  1. 1

    Bring the milk, cinnamon stick, and star anise to a boil. Once boiling, add the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk, stir to combine, then remove from heat.

    Meanwhile, slice the sweet bread (picón) into thin pieces and toast them in a pan with butter until golden brown.

    Once the bread is toasted, start arranging it in a bowl.

    Layer the bread with raisins, walnuts, and a little shredded coconut, then pour some of the milk mixture over each layer.

    Continue layering all the bread and milk mixture. Bake at 340°F (170°C) for about 20 minutes, just until golden. Ready to enjoy!

    When serving, you can drizzle a little extra sweetened condensed milk on top.
