Steps

20 mins
  1. 1

Boil moong dal with haldi and 2 spoons ghee in the cooker for 8 whistles.

  2. 2

Meanwhile, chop onions, ginger, garlic, chillies and fennel leaves finely.

  3. 3

Once the dal is boiled, pour some oil into a frying pan. Add some jeera and let it pop. Add chopped ginger, garlic and chillies. Saute lightly.

  4. 4

Then add onions and saute till translucent. Throw in the finely chopped fennel leaves. Keep mixing to ensure the colour nor flavour is lost.

  5. 5

Add the boiled moong dal to the frying pan. Add salt to taste.

  6. 6

Add water if too thick. Let it boil for five minutes.

  7. 7

Perfecto! Enjoy with some hot rice and pickle!

I cook because I love to eat. It's really as simple as that. Fortunately for me, I married a foodie (who happens to be a much much better cook than me). Fairly early in the marriage I realized the best way to avoid ego clashes about each other's cooking was to make things Karan had no expertise on. And thus my tryst with baking began. Today, I can't imagine a life without my oven, maida, butter and sugar :)
