Maple Apple Crostini

This is an easy, quick, delicious appetiser. I made this for Thanksgiving an an appetiser and it was a big hit. The sweet and juiciness of the apples is a great contrast against the crunchy crostini.

This is an easy, quick, delicious appetiser. I made this for Thanksgiving an an appetiser and it was a big hit. The sweet and juiciness of the apples is a great contrast against the crunchy crostini.
Steps

Preheat oven to 375. Cut the baguette into rounds or diagonal slices and place on a cookie sheet/baking tray. The slices should be about 1/2 inch thick.

Sprinkle/drizzle olive oil on the slices. You can also brush the oil onto each baguette - whichever is simpler.

Sprinkle the oiled baguettes with freshly ground black pepper.

Bake in the oven for 7 mins at 375. The crostinis will be crunchy when done.

Either grate the apple or cut into thin slices. I found that the grated apple tastes better but can easily turn brown unless you add some lemon juice to it. The sliced apples stayed much longer before they color changed. The picture in the recipe is with the sliced apples.

Once the baguettes have cooled, take a sliced baguette, place the grated/2 apple slices on top.

Drizzle the prepared baguette with some maple syrup/honey.

Toast the walnuts in a pan over heat and then sprinkle on top of the maple syrup/honey.

Done! Arrange in a platter and serve!
