Ingredients

  1. 1.5 kgapples- peeled and chopped
  2. 750 gsugar -I used a mix of soft dark brown and white sugar
  3. 650 graisins
  4. 3 cmpiece of fresh ginger, grated
  5. 2 teaspoonsmustard seeds
  6. 700 mlapple cider vinegar
  7. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  8. 1 teaspoonsmoked paprika (optional)
  9. 2brown onions - diced
  10. Sterilised jars for storage

Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare all ingredients and place in a large,heavy-bottomed pan or maslin pan.

    Bring to the boil and simmer for approx.45-50mins. Stir frequently to ensure mixture does not catch on the bottom of the pan.

    The chutney is ready when the apples have softened and the chutney is dark and liquid has reduced

    Cool slightly and then fill sterilised jars - be careful the chutney will still be hot! Seal and cool.

    Ready for Christmas!
