Ingredients

30 minutes
6 servings
  • 500 gmsBasmati rice
  • 250 gmsKidney beans / rajma about soaked overnight
  • 1 tbspGarlic mince
  • 2Onions large finely chopped
  • as per taste Salt
  • 3each Bay leaves, cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods
  • The above ingredients should be added in the rice when boiling
  • 4 tbspGhee or oil about
  • handfulCoriander and mint leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 3-4Green chillies slit or red chilli flakes a tbsp
  • 1 tbspGaram masala powder
  • 1 tbspchana masala

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Boil rice with the whole spices.

  2. 2

    Drain and keep aside.

  3. 3

    Pressure cook rajma with little salt or just boil it taking care not to overdo that.

  4. 4

    In a non-stick pot, heat the ghee or oil and add in the cumin seeds and bay leaves.

  5. 5

    Add onions and saute them well.

  6. 6

    Add the masalas and the boiled rajma next.

    Add rice now and give it all a good mix.

    Garnish with coriander and mint leaves.

    Serve hot as it is or with any side dish of your choice.
